The present study was undertaken to evaluate the effect of chitin on germ tube formation in Candida albicans. The percentage of germ tube formation in a 2% colloidal chitin solution was significantly higher (P < 0.05) than in distilled water, showing that chitin is an inducer of term tube formation.
