Sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoretic patterns were investigated using 3 mouse macrophage cell lines, A640-BB-2, J774.1 and P388Dl. The characteristic 97.4-Kd protein was observed clearly in P388Dl and less clearly in A640-BB-2 and J744.1. The 180-kD protein was observed in A640-BB-2 and the 200-kD protein was observed in P388Dl. Thus, these studies may be useful for clarifying the relation between cellular proteins and the activities of the macrophages.

Key words: macrophage cell lines; polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis; sodium dodecyl sulfate
