book detection system is installed at the entrance to the library as a security
against taking books out without permission.
Users
must go through this gate when entering and leaving the library.

Users other than students with student ID
cards must acquire a library card to use the lending services of the library.
An
application form for registration must be filled out and submitted to the reception on the first floor of the library.

Please take books to be
borrowed (except restricted ones) with your library card or student ID card to
the lending
clerk at the
reception on the first floor of the library.

During
vacations, students can use a long term lending service.
Long
term means the same period as the duration of the vacation.

Users
must return borrowed books within the specified time limit to the lending clerk
at the reception
on the first floor of the
library.
When
the library is closed, books may be returned through the book chute at the
corner of the main entrance.

The
following categories of library materials may not be borrowed.
a. Rare books
b. Reference books
c. Newspapers
d. Current periodicals
e. Audio-visual materials
f. Other materials that the University Librarian has designated for reference use.

If you would like to renew books, you can
bring them to the lending clerk at the reception on the first floor of the
library for the necessary renewal
procedure.
Books
may be renewed only once, unless they are overdue and have been reserved for
another user.

Users
failing to return books by the date due may be deprived of the privilege of
borrowing books
for a period corresponding to
the total number of overdue days.

a. How to use the library
b. Literature searches, including academic books and articles
c. Information retrieval

Photocopying
materials in the library is by self-service.
You
can use a special library service to request photocopying of materials from
other university libraries.

OPAC
helps you to retrieve the library materials you want.
It
will tell you where the material is stored and whether it is loaned out.

The networked databases can be accessed free not only from the computer
terminal
in the library
but also from those in university offices.

You must not mark books in any way, write on them or place any writing materials in them.
2.
Readers should replace books on the shelves after use.
3.
Please use great care in photocopying - do not press down the spine too hard.
4.
You should report any damaged books to the library staff.

Smoking
is not permitted in any part of the library.
Food
and lidless drink may not be taken into the library, except Refresh Corner in Learning Commons.
Use
of mobile telephone is not permitted in any part of the library.
